Angus Wilderspin is an artist and part time teacher based in Helensville, New Zealand.

Artist Statement:

I like to recapture that feeling & atmosphere in the hour before sunset, when everything is bathed in a golden light. Shapes & forms come out that could not be seen before. As the sun lowers there is the drama & dance of the shadows, silhouettes appear, the crisp outlines of the landscape & highlights of light resting on the surface of objects. There is a sense of mystery; something magical taking place.It is like having a different set of eyes; the natural world is unveiling itself for those who can sit & listen.Painting for me is a way of providing a framework for my imagination & story telling to take place. To get that feeling as though I am going on a journey, exploring & discovering new lands. The subject is not so important to me, rather it is the way that I paint that is.To have a flow & rhythm come through into the work giving it feelings of vibrancy, light & life.
